The Beautiful Scenery of Guilin

Guilin was the second stop on our trip. Guilin is located in south, central China. People kept telling us, "You will love Guilin. It is so beautiful and warm." Hah! to all those who told us that. Yes, Guilin was beautiful, but it was not warm. In fact, Guilin was the coldest place on our trip. Even the northern cities of Beijing and Dezhou were warmer. I had to wear so many layers along with a hat, scarf and gloves. Normally I should have only had to wear a sweatshirt, but no. Despite the cold we enjoyed Guilin.

On our first full day in Guilin, we went to see the rice terraces and visited the long-hair city where all of the women have long hair. We discovered some really neat places on our strolls around this city during the evening; some beautiful pagodas and foodie street.

The next day we walked around the city again and ended up at Elephant trunk hill. You will see why they call it this.

Our next adventure took us on a city bus ride out to the Reed Flute Caves. It is always fun to ride on a city bus as foreigners. The locals are always so mystified that we would be willing to get on one of their buses and act like it is natural. Well for us it is natural. We use public transportation all the time.

Our last day we went on a riverboat cruise on the Li River. It was so peaceful and beautiful!
