So before we went to Beijing, Gary and I took a train to Dezhou to visit one of our friends, Caroline. She was my student last year and she has become one of the family. She wanted us to meet her family and see her home. We spent a few nights in her home. It was so wonderful!
Gary loves trains. He was lucky enough to be able to get his picture taken next to the train. This doesn't happen often, but the train driver actually took the picture!
Pictures from the window of the train.
This is Caroline (middle), her sister, Sunny, and I just after we arrived at their home.

Here are some pictures of their house. This first one is their front door.
The wall straight ahead on the right is the bathroom. It is a hole with a bucket. Got used to it very quickly. Their house is lovely and they were so wonderful to us.

This is cotton. I had never actually seen cotton plants before. Very interesting.
Look how tall the grass is!
The rest of the pictures are from a couple of parks in Dezhou. Some beautiful places to see in this small town.
