Birthday Plus 3

So Monday was my birthday plus 3. We did not do much because most things were still not open because of Chinese New Year. It would still be another week before everything opened up again. Gary was also not feeling good because of the wind and cold we were in the previous day, so we stayed at our apartment most of the day. We still did tutoring during the morning.

There was a store we had heard about that sells western food, so I wanted to go and visit the store to see what they have. Western food is expensive here because it is all imported. Things like refried beans, pasta, cheese, bacon bits, tortilla chips and many other things. Because I was going by myself, I decided that I wanted to take a different route to this store. I walked down by the beach and ended up at the Olympic Sailing Center. We had been to part of it before, but never to the side where you actually see where people sit to watch the boat races. The walk was wonderful if not a little cold. However I enjoyed myself. I was able to do some thinking and remind myself how much I love to just walk and explore.

These two sets of sculptures were found in a small park on the path toward the sailing center. I am getting to like looking at sculptures and art more and more. I think this is Gary's influence.

These two pictures are of the building where officials and others are when sailing events take place. They can see the all of the sea from up there to make sure everyone is sailing properly. It is a very unusual building.

They have all the flags of the nations who were in the Olympics flying at the sailing center.

This is a lighthouse located at the end of the sailing center pier. I love lighthouses.

This video is of the Sailing Center. You can see the rows of stone stairs where people sit to watch the boat races. The pier is very long and impressive. I think many people could come and watch there.

I hope you like the video. The walk was fun. I walked just over 3 miles or 5.1 kilometers to get to the sailing center. It was a wonderful walk. Then I walked around the sailing center taking pictures and went to the mall where the grocery store is located. So I probably walked about 4 miles that day.

I called Gary and he took the bus and met me at the store. I wanted him to see it, but I did not want him out in the cold. It was a nice store. We finally found real cheddar cheese. Wisconsin cheese as a matter of fact. We have found other cheddar cheeses at other stores and online, but none have tasted like cheese from back home. This one does because it is from Wisconsin. They had many other things, but we can find them at the store, RT Mart, that we usually shop at. I will definitely go back and buy my cheese there. I don't like the milk here, so I need the cheese for the calcium and the vitamin D. Anyway it was a fun walk and visit to the store. For dinner, we went home and I made Chinese noodles and chicken.
