So I have been accused of not being up to date on our blog and not posting enough. Well, to be honest, it is true. I am not very good at doing this consistently. So thanks, Malayna, for reminding me to get better. It probably won't help for very long, but here I will try to keep everyone more up to date about what is happening to us here. Let's start with my birthday.
Normally we only celebrate my birthday on one day, February 20th. However, because my birthday fell on the day after the Chinese New Year, there were no shops or restaurants open (well not very many anyway). Gary was getting over Pneumonia, too, so we were not able to go out to dinner. So I decided to do what the Chinese do during many of their important festivals. They celebrate for a week. I decided that I would celebrate my birthday for a week. Many restaurants did not open until Tuesday of this week, so dinner was delayed.

Here is how I celebrated my birthday.
On my birthday, Gary and I took a short walk around a some of the streets in Qingdao. We were only out for about an hour and a half. It was rainy and Gary still was not feeling well. We came back to our apartment. Gary slept and I just worked on the computer. We watched a movie later.
On Saturday, birthday plus 1, we went up to visit some of our friends in Chengyang. We were going to have a sleepover and watch movies. We arrived and they let us dress up in traditional Korean clothing. They always dress up this on Chinese New Year. I think we look pretty good.
Pork and fried fish and vegetables
Vegetables for pancakes, Korean tofu, and rice
Spicy kimchi
After dinner, we watched a couple of movies. Gary brought up his cute new projector he bought in Hong Kong and we projected the movies onto the Choi's wall. It was really nice. We watched "Night at the Museum 2". I like the first "Night at the Museum" better than the second, but the second one is still fun.
Then we watched "Maleficent" with Angelina Jolie. It turns out that I really loved this movie. It put a whole new spin on Sleeping Beauty.
We had a wonderful evening with wonderful friends! What a great way to celebrate my birthday plus 1.
This was what we had. There was pork with vegetables that we put on pancakes and rolled up. We love these. We have these at our apartment a lot. Of course, my friend makes her vegetables in smaller slices. I am too lazy to do it that way. The vegetable plate has carrots, green peppers (which I now like), bean sprouts, cucumbers and onions. We had rice, Korean tofu (not bad, but tofu or dofu in Chinese is still not my favorite), fried fish and vegetables and the red stuff is spicy kimchi (I really like this, too, now). The food was delicious!!
