Birthday plus 4

So Tuesday, February 24th was my birthday plus 4. The restaurant that Gary wanted to take me to for my birthday dinner finally opened up again on Tuesday, so we decided to take a couple of our friends to lunch for the all-you-can-eat taco bar. The restaurant is called 'The Canvas'. It serves western food. We usually eat there about once a month. I like Chinese food more than western food now. Well, except for cheese. The Chinese don't use cheese at all.

This is what the restaurant looks like inside. Over on the left you can kind of see a bookshelf. It runs along that wall and around the corner to the right. There is another seating area which is bigger to the left of this seating area.

Gary arrived first and told the owner, who is Chinese and her husband is Canadian, that we were here to celebrate my birthday. They gave me a crown to wear. You can't tell, but the crown is pink, says Princess on it and it has blinking lights. Fun! We had Amy with us and also Li Zhixing, but Gary forgot to take a picture of him. This is a picture of a different day, but Li Zhixing is the tall young man on the right. He is a native of Qingdao and has taken us all over the city. He is special to us, so we invited him to my birthday celebration.

This is what he brought me for my birthday. It is a beautiful silk scarf. He said his mother helped him pick it out. I love it. It is so soft and beautiful. I started wearing it that day. He and his mom were so happy I liked it.

We all had the taco bar which was pretty good except no cheese. Neither of our Chinese friends had ever had a taco. Not sure if they liked them, but that's okay.

Afterwards, Gary went back to the apartment because he was not feeling good again and Li Zhixing and I went and walked around Qingdao for a while. He showed me some new places. He has introduced us to some wonderful spots in Qingdao and some wonderful restaurants, too. My birthday plus 4 was yummy and entertaining.
